Jesus, The Influencer of Influencers

Tuesday blessings ❤️

Holy Spirit, come. Be part of my life this day, and every day. Guide my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Take my hand and lead me.

“Jesus said to the Apostles: ‘Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, ‘Come here immediately and take your place at table’? Would he not rather say to him,

‘Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished’? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?

So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say,

‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.’”

I give thanks for another day, for the opportunity to start again.

This is quite an interesting Gospel, and the message seems a bit conflicting.

The message in today’s Gospel as told by Luke, it seems like Jesus is supporting tyrannical behaviors, but I know it in my heart that it’s not what He’s implying, because just before He tells us that if we have faith as big as a mustard seed, we can accomplish anything we want. Today, You invite us to as we are told, and what we are told, and invited to do is to trust. God is the Creator, we are His children, He knows what He is doing, and our job and responsibility is to trust, and put our faith in God. Not always an easy task, especially when we are going through challenging situations in our lives.

May our prayer today be one of trust. May we trust God’s plans, and His will every day of our lives, and may we always feel supported, and wrapped in His love. Amen.

Have a beautiful, joy filled day! 🌿

Monday Blessings ❤️

Holy Spirit, come. Be part of my life this day, and every day. Guide my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Take my hand and lead me.

“Jesus said to his disciples, "Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the one through whom they occur. It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he wrongs you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times saying, 'I am sorry,' you should forgive him."

And the Apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."

What a beautiful, and important message in today’s Gospel. We are reminded that we too are capable of leading others to wrong doing, in the way we speak, and our actions. God invites us to always be forgiving, and to forgive those who hurt us. Forgive, no matter how many times people hurt us and offend us. Definitely not an easy task, especially when our society tells us that we might look like fools if we forgive over and over, but isn’t that what we are called to do and to be, not only as Christians but as wholesome human beings that care for one another?

May we always be a source of hope and love to others in the way we forgive those who mistreat us, hurt us, and offend us. And may we always lead everyone to a more peaceful way of living.

Keep the faith, and have a lovely day!

Happy Tuesday! ❤️

Today’s Gospel was written to us by Luke.

“One of those at table with Jesus said to him, “Blessed is the one who will dine in the Kingdom of God.” He replied to him,

“A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many. When the time for the dinner came, he dispatched his servant to say to those invited, ‘Come, everything is now ready.’ But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves. The first said to him,

‘I have purchased a field and must go to examine it; I ask you, consider me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have purchased five yoke of oxen and am on my way to evaluate them; I ask you, consider me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have just married a woman, and therefore I cannot come.’ The servant went and reported this to his master. Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ The servant reported, ‘Sir, your orders have been carried out and still there is room.’

The master then ordered the servant,

‘Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home may be filled. For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner."

Thank you, Lord for the gift of a new day, for letting me start fresh, and trusting in me.

Most of us live very busy lives, whether we spend a lot of hours at work, with pastimes, or our children are busy with extracurricular activities. I remember those days. Every day we are invited to share in the joy of the Gospel, and on Sundays, we have a special invitation to worship and listen to Scripture in a special way.

May we always say yes to God’s invitation to take part of His banquet whether it is by clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, praying at home, sharing the Good News of the Gospel with our family and friends, or worshiping at Sunday Mass… or even better, all of the above.

May we always answer Your call with joy, with promptness, and especially, with love.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Have a lovely evening! ❤️

Happy Monday! ❤️

Today’s Gospel was written to us by Luke.

On a sabbath Jesus went to dine at the home of one of the leading Pharisees. He said to the host who invited him, “When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or sisters or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors, in case they may invite you back and you have repayment. Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;  blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Thank you, God for the gift of a new day.

This is a beautiful message in today’s Gospel. How many times do we do acts of mercy, and charity to get something in return? In today’s Gospel we are invited to do acts of mercy without expecting anything in return, to do those acts of mercy and charity to those who cannot “pay it back”. We are invited to reflect deeper about our acts of charity, and do those acts of mercy thinking only on the heavenly reward. May we always answer “yes” to the invitation to help our brothers and sisters who need us most, the poor, the crippled, the lonely, and to do it without expecting anything in return.

Amen.

Have a lovely day! ❤️

HAPPY TUESDAY ❤️

An episode from the deck chair of your everyday church lady. 😉

This has been a season of coffee, and a whole lot of Jesus, so this coffee cup fits perfectly, and I love it too which helps!

Let’s talk about Jesus for a minute, which honestly what a better role model for life than Jesus Himself. I grew up practicing all the Catholic rituals, and traditions possible, and actually I had great role models of that faith in my life, but I never really dug into the beauty of the Bible until more recently, which is an amazing journal of Jesus’ life by the people that walked side by side to him, witnessing all the things, and hearing all the good news.

Imagine a famous influencer right now (there are thousands if not millions of influencers on every single social media platform), Jesus was the influencer, of influencers… He still is. The Bible can seem so overwhelming, and dense, and hard to read, and understand sometimes, but it’s loaded with so much beauty, realness, but mainly so much love.

The stories in the Bible were written by the Apostles that followed Jesus during His earthly journey and public ministry. They wrote what they witnessed, and what Jesus asked them to write. Today’s Gospel was written by Luke.

Jesus said to his disciples:  “Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants.”

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to be always ready, with our lamps lit, and ready for action. Ready to respond to a knock on our door. May we always have the attitude of a faithful servant.  May we always be ready to serve those in whom You are present every day: the hungry, the thirsty, the poor. May our lamps be always lit so we can guide those who You send our way and need guidance. May we always be ready for You, in the every day of our lives, and always.

Have a beautiful, joy filled day. 🌿
