Hi.

Welcome to my blog. A place to share my thoughts, dreams and everyday passions!

A brand new school year...

A brand new school year...

As I sipped my first cup of coffee this morning, I took a short "walk" down memory lane of my girls first days of school in years past.  Michelle is now on her third year of College and Bella is a Junior in High School, but every time a new school year begins, I feel a rainbow of emotions.  As a mom, every year always came (still does) wrapped with excitement, anticipation, fears, joy and hope.

Today, both of our school districts have officially began classes for every grade level.  Children and teens from Kindergarten to Seniors in High School will be walking side by side for nine months.  If I were given the opportunity to share my thoughts about the new school year with other kids from a mother's point of view, I would just say this.

Be kind.  Always be kind.  You never know what the peer you are interacting with that particular day might be going through.  Sometimes, children have to hide behind a smile to make it through the day.

Make new friends.  Welcome others.  Make them feel like they belong.  If you see someone sitting alone, not making friends easily, walk up to them and introduce them to your friends.  It will mean the world to them and most likely they will go home and share the story with their family.

Get good grades.  Study.  Take advantage of the academic opportunities you are given, make the best of it.  When the time to apply for College comes, grades will matter.  And for those already in College, it will just give you more opportunities in the future.

Respect your teachers!  They want to help you succeed.  Teachers have a personal life and sometimes they too, have to hide behind a smile to give you the best of themselves every day, regardless of what struggles they are facing at home.  They want the best for you.

Get involved!  Schools have plenty of clubs and activities for everyone to get involved in and it's also a great way to make new friends.

Don't waste too much time behind a screen.  Notice the people around you.

Be humble.  If you have gifts, share them and help others.  The more you give, the more you will receive.

Don't be afraid to be yourself!  Be genuine.  There is only one beautiful, wonderful you!

Have fun!!!  Life is a little sweeter when you are sharing special moments with friends.

Remember that your family loves you and they are always there to support you.  Reach out.

Be kind. Always be kind.  I know I already said this but I think it's worth repeating.

May this upcoming year be a year of growth for our children in every way and may they always feel safe, happy and loved!
