Father's Day with Stasiu

I had (have) so much to write about last week that I ended up not writing at all... confusing right? Sometimes I have conflicting feelings, what can I say!

Before I get to my emotional, weepy stories which I've had plenty of lately, or my views on some more controversial subjects (which I have plenty of also), I wanted to dedicate today's post to Father's Day.

Our day started off with church (holy people over here :)), a hilarious McDonald's drive thru on our way downtown where Stan completely panicked -he doesn't like drive thrus AT ALL- and mispronounced every single word of the two item order we had, resulting in Bella and I laughing hysterically for a very long time, Stan being unable to finish his order because Bella and I made him all that more nervous and Michelle having to climb over the front seat to finish the order and rescue the moment because it became quite a mess, what a scene over "bacon, egg and cheese biscuits.  By the time we got to the next window to pay, it was apparent that the young girl at the register was trying really hard not to laugh (side story... did you know that every single drive thru window has cameras and they can actually see YOU when you order?! If you didn't, now you know and you can smile next time you try another drive thru) and Stan had a scrip of apologies he was ready to give to the cashier because he is Stan and he is a nice guy like that.  Anyhow, I really wasn't planning on the drive thru story to take up half the page, but it just happened.

Continue Maria.

We arrived downtown on the hottest day of the year so far, a sizzling 102 degrees for high (heat index).  I had never seen more heat warnings throughout the city, but like they say "it's cooler by the lake!" and it sure was.  It was nice to walk around, talk and just be together.  We ate at one of our favorite downtown eateries in Navy Pier "Bubba Gump Shrimp", and played a fun Forrest Gump trivia game with the waitress.  We ended the day with frozen yogurt, pizza and dateline, quite a combo!

Father's Day may come once a year, but every day of the year we are thankful for the amazing gift Stan is to all us, especially the girls.
